Oak City Homes Wins Gold at 2008 Parade of Homes
First-Time 29-Year-Old Female Construction Superintendent Wins Top Award for Parade Entry
(RALEIGH NC OCTOBER 27, 2008)—Raleigh-based Oak City Homes is pleased to announce that the company earned a prestigious GOLD AWARD for its 2008
Parade of Homes entry from the Home Builders Association of Raleigh-Wake County. The model entered, The Kylie Morgan, is one of the company’s
most popular floor plans. The winning home is located in The Villages of Apex, recently voted "Community of the Year" by the North Carolina Home
Builders Association.
One of the most exciting aspects of the award is that construction of the winning home was supervised by a 29 year old female managing her
first project. Holly Bowers was hired by Oak City Homes five years ago as a bookkeeper with no prior business experience. During her employment,
she became a Realtor and was promoted to sales and marketing manager where she grew to love home construction. In fact, her dream was to actually
build homes. She received her chance last January when Oak City purchased lots in The Villages of Apex and was in need of a construction manager.
The project was particularly challenging in that it was a brand new floor plan that Oak City was introducing. Holly was given the opportunity and
ended up building an award-winning home, beating out competitors with decades of experience in the home construction field.
"We are extremely proud of Holly and of all her accomplishments," said Beau Harrison, Manager of Oak City Homes LLC. "Holly has worked incredibly
hard in learning about the home construction industry and has obviously succeeded in her goal. Not only did she build the home, she won a gold award
for it".
"We are pleased to be recognized by our peers in the home building industry with this coveted award," added Harrison. "Our homes include the best of
southern architecture along with features from the west coast. Winning this honor confirms that by combining the best of these two building styles,
we are creating a winning home that’s perfect for today’s families." Harrison, who draws all Oak City home plans, is originally from California. His
partners Grey A. Wilson and Rob Chalupski bring the best of Southern charm and amenities to the homes.
The Kylie Morgan features a spectacular first-floor master suite with a small private garden and 3,200 sq. ft. of living space The California influence
is evident in the large windows and wide open feel of the home, while the heavy rough sawn timbers on the front of the home and in the kitchen give the
home an old world charm.

Lots in Phase II of The Villages of Apex Now Available
Sitework Complete for 105 Additional Lots in Mixed-Use Community
(RALEIGH NC JULY 24, 2008)—Apex First Development, developer of The Villages of Apex, today announced the availability of additional lots for sale in Phase II of the project. Phase II of the North Village includes 105 lots.
The Villages of Apex is a 202-acre mixed-use community being built as an extension of historic downtown Apex. The development, which includes luxury condominiums, villas, townhomes and single family homes, features a village center with retail shops and restaurants plus Class-A office space, a resort-style amenities center, 13-acre town park, two-acre dog park and miles of greenway trails winding through the community.
Interest in The Villages of Apex community has been strong. Phase I of the North Village is already 100% sold out and several lots in Phase II have already been reserved.
"We are pleased with the tremendous interest from area builders regarding this exciting and highly unique community", said "Mike Howington, co-owner of project developer Apex First Development. "Because of the demand for homes in The Villages of Apex, our builder team has expanded significantly. We feel fortunate to be in the best pro-growth area of the Triangle with the most exciting project in the region. That’s why the area’s top builders continue to ask to join our builder team."
In fact, to keep up with growth and demand for homes in the community, Apex First Development is seeking additional high-quality builders to be part of the builder team.
"All water and sewer allocations have been obtained for the entire project, and the capped sewer capacity in Apex creates an environment that limits construction and availability to competitive projects until a new water treatment plant is completed, which isn’t scheduled for construction until 2013", said Howington. "That puts our community in a very enviable position."
