Apex: The Peak of Good Living

The town of Apex, North Carolina, has a long and proud history. The restored downtown area features unique specialty shops, antique stores, an old-fashioned soda shop and a number of restaurants and cafes. The town leadership has taken great care in preserving the downtown area, and their painstaking efforts have been rewarded with a listing on the National Register of Historic Places.

The name "Apex" was adopted because the town marked the highest point on the Chatham Railroad between Richmond, Virginia and Jacksonville, Florida. The Apex railroad station was chartered in the mid 1800s and a community that included shops and trading posts soon developed around the station.

The town of Apex has consistently lived up to its heartfelt motto, “The Peak of Good Living,” and the world is finding out how true that is. In fact, in 2007 Money Magazine ranked Apex the 14th Best Place to Live in America. Apex was chosen for its safe neighborhoods, vibrant economy, good schools and sense of community.

Apex is located in the western part of a region of central North Carolina known as The Triangle, named for the cities of Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill. The Triangle continues to thrive and is recognized as one of the most desirable places to live in the nation. In the heart of the Triangle and just minutes from Apex is Research Triangle Park, the largest research park in the nation.

Apex is a great place to raise a family, attend excellent schools, open a business and enjoy a great lifestyle. The town is near major entertainment venues, highly respected colleges and universities, museums and cultural centers, internationally recognized hospitals and health institutions, and the Raleigh Durham International Airport. And Apex is just a few hours from the gorgeous Blue Ridge Mountains in the west and the pristine beaches of the Carolina coast in the east.
